Music Suggestion: Camo & Krooked

Music Suggestion: Camo & Krooked

July 28, 2011

I've just recently started getting back into Drum n Bass music, and I was sure happy to find Camo and Krooked to welcome me back. They've gained a lot of attention for good reason, and you'd be hard pressed to find a track which didn't make you start nodding in beat within seconds of it starting. My personal favorite of the moment is 'Feel Your Pulse.'

Music Suggestion: Banco De Gaia

Music Suggestion: Banco De Gaia

July 25, 2011

It may seem a little past the point of being useful, as Banco De Gaia has been around for some time. I even listened to some of his tracks in High School, but never really looked into the band proper until recently. His style is world-infused, slow, chill, almost dub music that really hits the spot if you want something on in the background while you work, that still has impact. Check out the best of album 'Songs From The Silk Road' if nothing else. Great stuff.

Music Suggestion: The J Arthur Keenes Band

Music Suggestion: The J Arthur Keenes Band

July 12, 2011

I first came across this band (though I think it's just one guy), on 8bit collective, checking out some tunes. About a month after that he released a new album for free download off 8bitpeoples, and it's amazing. If you're a fan of chiptune or indie music, give this a look. It's a nice blend of both without going into the pitfalls of either genre. Definite download.

I came across this band from a video on YouTube which used it as a backing track. I knew after thirty seconds this was a band to look into.

Music Suggestion: Shpongle

Music Suggestion: Shpongle

April 13, 2011

Though I've been an avid fan of Shpongle since their first album, I have forgot to mention them here. Their music is worldly, kind of random, but none the less great. I would suggest any of their albums to you to get a taste for what their sound is. Chances are that if you like one of their songs, you'll like them all. Also, the live DVD at the Roundhouse is amazing and definitely worth checking out.

Music Suggestion: Passion Pit

If you listen to any of their songs, and aren't immediately turned off by the somewhat strange, high-pitched lead singer, then what you'll find here when you listen to their whole album is a great collection of heart-felt, up-beat, dance-y, electronic music. Personally, I listen to some of the tracks daily I enjoy them so much.

Music Suggestion: Florence + The Machine

Music Suggestion: Florence + The Machine

April 13, 2011

I stumbled across this one when looking through a design blog and decided to check it out. I was not disappointed. The epic builds and truly inspired sounding vocals help this album roar through your playlist. The lead vocalists voice may not be for everyone, but for those who like it, the backing music to go with is a great find.

Music Suggestion: The Qemists

Music Suggestion: The Qemists

April 13, 2011

While I would never say that I'm a huge fan of drum n bass music, there are certain times it can be refreshing. Recently I gave the album "Join The Q" by The Qemists a listen, and I must say it's quite good. It's probably the best drum n bass (maybe breakbeat / anthem-y in parts) album all the way through I've heard since "Hold Your Colour" by Pendulum. Give it a listen, you might be pleasantly surprised.
